Do you care about low-income Baltimore communities?
Do you care about increasing the participation of Baltimoreans on local politics?

Then we need you!

Communities United is a Black-led nonprofit that works to organize and empower low income communities to achieve transformative change on issues of racial, economic and social justice. Our organizing is centered in Baltimore. Our organizing model hinges on intensive member engagement and leadership development.

We engage and build new leaders in Baltimore neighborhoods that face daily injustice – racism, poverty, trauma, addiction, criminalization – to build resilient grassroots power among those historically shut out of Baltimore’s economic and political life.

In the last two years alone:

We worked with direct service providers to bring food, technology and high-speed internet to Baltimore’s lowest income neighborhoods.

We were on the frontlines addressing COVID vaccine hesitancy in West Baltimore, doing direct outreach, education and hosting vaccine clinics, raising overall vaccine uptakes in our neighborhoods more than 10% based directly on these programs.

We teamed up with community groups across the state to lobby for and pass legislation to improve the Baltimore City Police Department transparency and accountability.

And now we need your help now.

We are moving into an office within the neighborhood we serve, transitioning to new directorship and moving to a new location. We need funding for a full review of our past accomplishments and future aims.

Bring a delegation of residents to Annapolis to lobby for harm reduction legislation to help prevent the more than 1,000 overdose deaths in Baltimore each year?
Bring experts and residents to Annapolis to lobby for tenants rights legislation to curb the epidemic of evictions and homelessness in poor neighborhoods?
Take a delegation of local activists to Philadelphia to meet and learn with other grassroots activists from across the country?
Strengthen our base of volunteers and community members?
